Coming Full Circle with Marv Chauza

#

Marv Chauza felt life was coming full circle when he entered the CLC. He was baptized by pastor Curt Lehman in the Berean church on "A" street years ago. But admittedly, soon found himself going astray.

After many years of wandering, he chose to get back on track and began attending Lincoln Berean again. Here he is ten years in to his new walk and attending the CLC to equip him for the rest of the journey.

Marv is married to Teri, who is supportive of his time spent studying and working. Marv is an avid hunter. He also serves on the Mexico Missions Team at his home church, Country Bible Church in Bennet, Nebraska.

Marv works full-time at Back to the Bible as the manager for the indoor skate board park for youth at EDGE 64 in Lincoln.

Marv begins his day with class and then works until 9 or 10 o'clock at night. His co-worker, Eric "Rock" DeGarmo, says Marv has found out that he can do more than he ever thought he could.

At the EDGE, Marv leads a weekly Bible study for the skaters. His teaching has been greatly enriched by this education from the CLC. Marv earned the nickname "Cowboy" from the skaters at the EDGE - due in part to his love of rodeo. He is impacting lives everyday by sharing his testimony and personal experiences.

The CLC encouraged him to enter the mentoring relationship with his home church pastor, Jason Thacker. Pastor Thacker meets with marv on a weekly basis to sharpen his skills and continue growth in spiritual discipline.

Jason shares, "Not only have I had the opportunity to get to know Marv better, but his excitement has rekindled in me a passion for keeping my exegetical and theological skills sharp!"

One of the most important changes Jason has witnessed in Marv is his ability to discern between truth and error. Jason has seen Marv become more critical (in a good way) of what he hears and reads within the realm of Christianity. He is learning the difference between exegesis and eisegesis. Jason continues, "Learning produces discernment and that is the great benefit and change I've seen the training at the CLC do for Marv."

Following graduation, Marv will continue his work at the EDGE skate park and may take on more teaching opportunities at church. Pastor Thacker says Country Bible has gained another teacher , discipler and mentor. "We've talked about the opportunity of Marv teaching a condensed version of one of his CLC classes in our Adult Bible Fellowship."

Marv is thankful that someone at Back to the Bible suggested he look in to the CLC. He has benefited from what he calls "the incredibly qualified instructors" by gaining a better understanding of the scriptures and the Christian worldview.

And, being able to say he was one of the first to go through the program - Marv considers that an honor.
